From Rua do Ouro, Rossio, Praça do Comércio and the Tagus are a few steps away. We spent a weekend in the Pombaline building and are grateful to the team.

Lisbon is a city you explore on foot, and Baixa Pombalina is the part where that is easiest. Rua do Ouro runs in a straight line from Rossio to Praça do Comércio and the river. MYTHIC SANA sits right on that line, in an 18th-century building erected on the strict grid of the Marquês de Pombal after the earthquake of 1755.

## The house

48 rooms and suites, no lobby bustle, but a butler in golden sleeves who is reachable around the clock and actually takes care of everything: table reservations, a car to the airport, a late dinner at the BLACK MOON Gastrobar in the building when you return exhausted from the city.

## The city outside the door

Praça do Comércio in the morning, before the cafés fill up. Then up to Chiado by the Elevador de Santa Justa or on foot, and on into Bairro Alto. Tram 28 to Alfama and Graça in the afternoon, back to Baixa in the evening. For the Tagus, the sunset at Cais das Colunas, three minutes from the hotel.

## When to go

March to May and September to November are the months for long walks through the city. In high summer Baixa gets hot; then the day moves into the morning and evening hours. A weekend is enough for Baixa; three nights are better if Belém and Sintra are to be included.
