A private island ties you to its journey in. From Malé or Mahé you carry on by seaplane or boat, and that last leg shapes the day you arrive. We plan it first. The Maldivian houses sit in the northeast monsoon from November to April, and the Seychelles are calmest in April and October. If you want to dive, choose the season before the house.
