Safari runs on dates. The migration reaches the Mara between July and October, and the Okavango Delta stands highest from June to August. In southern Africa you see the most from May to September, when the animals come to water. With families we ask the children's ages before we suggest a camp. Many camps take children on game drives only from eight.

Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi

Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island

Sir Bani Yas is the most coherent way to experience wildlife in the Arabian Peninsula: an island established as a nature reserve in the 1970s, home to giraffes, gazelles and Arabian oryx, minutes from the water.

Best season October to April. The Arabian summer (May to September) is climatically demanding; the cooler months offer comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities and beach time.
