Former summer residence of the Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1743, today a thermal palazzo between Pisa and Lucca.

Frescoes, terracotta and the Shelley Bar recall its era as a spa of European nobility; the pools are fed by the warm spring of San Giuliano. We know the palazzo from our own journey through Tuscany.

Best time to travel April to June and September to October for mild, clear days.

Tuscany carries the whole year: mild in spring and autumn, thermally warmed in winter.

  • April to June Spring with green hills, 18 to 26 degrees, ideal for thermal baths and excursions.
  • July to August High summer, often above 30 degrees; early mornings and evenings in the outdoor pools are the finest hours.
  • September to October Harvest season with soft light, 18 to 27 degrees; wine and truffle arrive at the table.
  • November to March Cool, quiet months; the thermal springs of 34 to 42 degrees now show their full effect.
