A working wine estate in the heart of the Luberon: the most coherent way to experience Provence, vineyard culture, and genuine quiet in a single stay.

We know this hotel personally. Suites in the historic Mas core have more character than the modernised new-build wings: ask specifically for stone walls and timber beams when booking. The restaurant terrace beside the pool is the finer dinner setting but must be reserved in advance.

Best time to travel May to early July, plus September and October.

The Luberon lies at 350 to 700 metres in a warm, dry summer climate. May to early July brings 20 to 28 degrees, blossom and good air. Lavender in the lower areas blooms from late June to mid-July, with the higher plateaus following later. July and August climb to 30 to 35 degrees and fill the villages. September returns the harvest and 22 to 27 degrees. Winter is cool and quiet.

  • May to early July 20 to 28 degrees, long days. Lavender in the Luberon areas opens from late June to mid-July.
  • July to August 30 to 35 degrees, crowded villages and markets. Plan early hours and midday shade.
  • September to October Grape harvest, 22 to 27 degrees, softer light. The calmer rhythm between vines and villages.
  • November to April Cool at 6 to 14 degrees, clear days, very quiet. Truffles appear at the markets in winter.

Experiences

What you come here for.

  1. A tasting in the estate cellar

    The property is a working vineyard, with the vines beginning behind the terrace wall. A tasting in the cellar, led by the estate, is part of the stay rather than an extra.

  2. Joining the grape harvest

    In September the hand harvest runs across the estate. Guests can spend a morning in the vines and see how the picking later becomes wine.

  3. A ride between lavender and vines

    Bicycles are ready, and the paths run through lavender fields and vineyards without car traffic. From late June to mid-July the lavender of the lower areas is in bloom.

  4. Swimming in the columned pool

    The indoor pool with its classical columns and view into the herb garden is a serious wellness offering. A morning in the water, then the infinity pool facing the Luberon massif, sets the day.

What shapes the stay.

  • Roussillon: ochre cliffs and painters' studios, thirty minutes away. Visit early before day-trippers arrive.
  • Bonnieux and Lacoste: two of the Luberon's most compact hilltop villages, reachable by bicycle.
  • Apt Saturday market: the region's largest weekly market, with truffles in winter, melons and lavender honey in summer.
