A Banyan Tree-managed boutique resort on the calm west coast: the most coherent way to experience Mauritius without a resort atmosphere.

We know the property personally. Le Jadis is not a large resort. That is its strength. Guests seeking 400-room complexes with water slides will find it elsewhere. For those who want Mauritius without the event character, there is rarely a better address on the west coast. We recommend the Oceanfront Pool Suite as the entry category.

Best time to travel May to November

The southern winter from May to November brings dry, milder days in the mid-20s and calmer conditions. Cyclone season runs from mid-November to mid-May, with the highest risk from January to March; those months are hot, humid and most likely to affect the east coast.

  • May–November Dry trade-wind season with pleasant temperatures; July is the coolest month and the east coast can be windy.
  • December–March Hot and humid around 30 degrees; the main window for possible cyclones, especially on the east coast.
  • April / November Shoulder months: warm, mostly calm, with lower storm risk than midsummer.

What you come here for.

  1. Dolphin trip in Tamarin Bay

    Spinner dolphins come into Tamarin Bay reliably in the early morning. A small boat takes guests offshore from the resort before the day gets busy.

  2. Evening on the Cruso Beach terrace

    On the lit restaurant terrace above the pool, dinner is à la carte, with the sound of the ocean instead of a buffet and tour groups.

  3. Black River Gorges and the earth of Chamarel

    The national park with waterfalls and trails is about 20 minutes away; at Chamarel, the seven-coloured earth and a small family distillery make a quiet half-day.
