900 metres of private beach, dense rainforest, one island without backpackers: the most coherent way to enjoy the Andaman Sea undisturbed.

We know the property personally. The Hillside Estate is the strongest accommodation category: elevated, quieter, better views. For active guests we recommend booking at least one full-day excursion to the Koh Haa islands: the reef is the best on Koh Lanta.

November to April: dry season, calm seas, snorkelling visibility up to 20 metres. From May the monsoon arrives; the resort remains open, the jungle turns vivid green, and prices drop.

When it rewards you most.

Best time to travel November to April on the Andaman coast

Phuket and Koh Lanta sit on the Andaman coast, which follows a clear rhythm. November to April is dry, with daytime values around 28 to 34 degrees and a calm sea. May to October brings the southwest monsoon, wettest between June and September. For snorkelling and boat trips, travel in the dry window; the rainy months are quieter and cheaper but come with uncertain sea conditions.

  • November to February Driest and most comfortable stretch, with a calm sea, plenty of sun and daytime values around 28 to 32 degrees. Best conditions for the reefs around Koh Haa and the Similan Islands. Peak season, so busier.
  • March to April Still dry, increasingly hot and humid ahead of the monsoon. Good for beach and water, with the Andaman Sea staying calm.
  • May to October Southwest monsoon with rain and swell, heaviest from June to September. Some boat trips and dive sites are limited; in return, empty beaches and lower prices.

What you come here for.

  1. A day on the 900-metre private beach

    The resort's own stretch of beach on Koh Lanta stays free of vendors and bustle. Loungers under casuarinas, the calm water of the Andaman Sea and the Spice 'n Rice pavilion for lunch on the sand.

  2. Diving and snorkelling at Koh Haa

    The lodge's dive centre runs to the nearby Koh Haa archipelago, whose soft corals and eagle rays are reachable only by boat. Suitable for first dives as well as experienced divers.

  3. Thai cooking class in the Pimalai kitchen

    A class with the resort's chefs runs from the market and herb garden to the stove. At the end, the curries and salads you have made yourself sit on your own plate.
